Detroit enjoys four seasons, allowing for a variety of activities. For those who like the outdoors, there are several state parks within 40 minutes of the city including Kensington, Metrobeach Park, and Stoney Creek. Here, residents frequently go roller-blading, biking, hiking, play beach volleyball, paddle boating, or simply enjoy the warm weather. Less than two hours away, is Traverse City, which features crystal blue waters, world-famous Cherry Festival, cabin rentals, and beautiful sand dunes. Fall is the season of fresh-baked donuts and hot apple cider...a Michigan tradition! The surrounding area is filled with apple orchards and cider mills, as well as corn mazes. During the winter months, Campus Martius in downtown Detroit has ice skating, hot chocolate, and several restaurant options. Festivals including Noel Night and Winter Blast bring hundreds of visitors to the city during this time.
