Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is a vibrant division in the Department of Psychiatry at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Rosenberg serves as Chief of Child Psychiatry and Psychology at Wayne State University and the Children's Hospital of Michigan. Dr. Rosenberg and colleagues (Rosenberg, Holttum, Gershon, 1994) published the first ever textbook on pediatric psychopharmacology. The 3rd edition of this textbook was recently published in 2012 (Rosenberg & Gershon, 2012).

Dr. Rosenberg is an internationally recognized leading pediatric psychopharmacologist who lectures and consults extensively with patients referred worldwide. He and his team are frequently sought out by not only patients and families but other professionals for second opinions, expert consultation particularly in the area of pediatric ADHD, autism, pervasive developmental disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, childhood onset schizophrenia and psychosis and obsessive compulsive disorder. His team is conducting combined brain imaging (MRI) and genetic studies in childhood onset neuropsychiatric disorders. 

Dr. Rosenberg and colleagues also have published several chapters on childhood anxiety in Nelson's Textbook of Pediatrics. He has authored and coauthored articles on pediatric psychopharmacology and neuropsychopharmacology in prestigious journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), JAMA Psychiatry, the American Journal of Psychiatry, Biological Psychiatry and the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry among others.

Dr. Rosenberg and colleagues have been featured on an ABC 20/20 special report in March, 2012, on a PrimeTime Live special in 2009, on Good Morning America and CNN Headline News in 2011 for his expertise in ADHD. He and his team have also served as expert witness for patent and medical malpractice and child custody litigation.  Research opportunities include psychopharmacologic, neuroimaging, genetic, treatment outcome, neuropsychological and neurobehavioral studies in a variety of childhood onset neuropsychiatric disorders including obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, anxiety, autism, aggression, etc. Clinical, epidemiological and demographic research opportunities are also provided. Moreover, interested persons can discuss and develop research projects with Dr. Rosenberg and colleagues.

A regular monthly clinical pediatric psychopharmacologic research conference related to childhood onset psychiatric disorders has been initiated to help interested students, residents, fellows and junior faculty develop clinical research questions and projects.
