Biography

Born in Baghdad, Iraq and immigrated to the metro Detroit area at the age of 2. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Major in Biological Sciences Honors from Wayne State University. I attended the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM), Virginia Campus, where I was a member and treasurer of the VCOM chapter of Sigma Sigma Phi (SSP) Honor Society, member of the VCOM chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and president of the VCOM chapter of PsychSIGN. My passion for psychiatry is one of the reasons I chose to pursue medical school. My desire is to increase quality of life, much of which involves mental health. I look forward to playing my humble role in debunking myths around mental health, encouraging courageous conversations, increasing access to mental health resources across Michigan, and being the source of patience and optimism for individuals on a seemingly unending road to a better tomorrow. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and dogs, Oreo & Bear. I love the outdoors, especially anything involving the water such as swimming, boating, jet skiing, kayaking, and also fishing.
