Application process

Thank you for your interest in the WSU Child and Adolescent Psychiatry residency program! Please see below for more detailed application information.

  • Applicants must have completed 3 or more years as a resident in good standing in an ACGME-accredited general psychiatry program.
  • All content requirements for general psychiatry, including psychotherapy competencies and 3 CSV's must be completed prior to matriculation.
  • Applicants must be eligible for a permanent license in Michigan (USMLE or COMLEX 1, 2 and 3 or equivalents).
  • Applications must include a Training Verification Form for CAP Fellowship completed by the general psychiatry program director.
  • IMG's may be offered spots under a J1 visa only (not H1). 
  • The DMC/WSU CAP Residency participates in the National Residency Matching Program, and applications are submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service. Information about our program can also be found on FREIDA.
  • Interviews are scheduled on Fridays from September through November.
  • On the day of the interview, applicants will be given a tour of two major training sites, Hawthorn Center and WSUPG-Livonia, and meet a variety of faculty as well as residents.
  • We do not offer observerships due to privacy and liability issues.
  • Local trainees should reach out to the program coordinator to inquire about our Early Acceptance Program eligibility and process.
