Curriculum
Year 1
- 6 Months of Inpatient CAP at Hawthorn Center in Northville
- 6 Months of Outpatient CAP at Wayne Health Psychiatry in Livonia
- Includes 1 day per week of consultation to a home-based treatment team for high risk youth through a unique collaboration with Starfish Family Services, a community mental health provider
- Includes 1/2 day per week for 2 months of Developmental Preschool experience at Walnut Lake Preschool and Developmental Kindergarten in Farmington Hills
- Includes 1 day per week of School-Based Clinic at Livonia Public Schools
Year 2
Semester A
- 6 Months of Pediatric Consultation-Liaison at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit
- Includes Pediatric Neurology experience, Emergency CAP experience, and consultation to multiple outpatient clinics as well
- Includes 1 day per week of continuity clinic at Wayne Health Psychiatry in Livonia
Semester B
- 6 Months of Outpatient CAP at Wayne Health Psychiatry in Livonia
- Includes Early Childhood Evaluations and continued consultation to Starfish Family Services
- Includes pediatric Substance Abuse treatment experience at Growth Works in Canton
- Includes Residential and Forensic CAP experience at Vista Maria in Dearborn Heights
- Includes School Consultation experience with Livonia Public Schools and Redford Union Schools Day Treatment Program
Electives While maintaining continuity clinic time and didactics, residents are allotted up to 24 hours/week for 8 weeks (consecutively or spread out through-out the year) in second year to pursue special interests or additional experiences. Residents often choose to learn more about Autism Spectrum Disorder evaluation and treatment at The Children's Center, private practice inpatient CAP at Havenwyck Hospital, or to focus their time on Quality Improvement initiatives or research endeavors.
