Scheduled Events
Annual Resident Picnic
Resident potluck to spend time in the warm weather and get to know one another, especially the new incoming class. Friends and family are welcome!
Post-PRITE Dinner
Dinner at a restaurant for all residents provided by our program director after completion of the Psychiatry Resident-In-Training Examination (PRITE).
Annual Holiday Party
Celebrating the holidays with dinner and time with colleagues and mentors from the program, families are invited.
Resident Semi-Annual Retreat
Fun-packed day where residents are excused from clinical sites in order to participate in an activity planned and funded by Psychiatry Resident's Association (PRA). Previous events have included picnics on Belle Isle, trips to the Detroit Zoo, and an outdoor obstacle course.
Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences Graduation
Dinner and drinks at the majestic Detroit Yacht Club. Hosted by the program, friends and families are welcome to join. An evening of congratulations for the graduating residents including awards and celebration.
Additional Activities
Writing Club
Residents meet every few months to discuss, provide information and support on submissions for publications in journals or conferences. Anyone is welcome to join
Book Club
Residents meet approximately every few months to discuss a psychiatry-related novel/short story around food and drinks! Anyone is welcome to join. Previous picks include Hidden Valley Road by Robert Kolker and This Much I Know is True by Wally Lamb.
Journal Club
Residents meet every few months to go over interesting articles or landmark trials for accumulation of knowledge and reflection with colleagues. Anyone is welcome to join.
Movie Night
Hosted by any resident is an activity where we get together to watch a selected movie and socialize, with food and drinks.

- PGY 1 $59,004
- PGY 2 $60,774
- PGY 3 $62,595
- PGY 4 $64,473
Annual Educational Stipend
- Graduate Medical Education will utilize a part of this payment (for Medical Licenses, Lab Coats, Business cards, In-Service Exams, Lifesaving Certification for Residents)
- Residents/Fellows will have a one-time payment of $3,100.00 for Educational Materials, Board Presentations, Conferences, Educational courses, Step 3 exams, research related items, Specialty Board app. Fees, Specialty Equipment, Specialty Organization membership fee, etc.
