Detroit is one of the few American cities with all four major sports leagues (even rarer--all four teams play within walking distance of one another.) Detroit is also the birthplace of the distinct Motown sound and Techno music--festivals such as MoPOP and Movement draw global audiences. Jazz clubs (Cliff Bell's and Dirty Dog Jazz Club), casinos, and a variety of art districts. Detroit is home to Cadieux Cafe, the only place in the United States to boast feather bowling. And for all y'all country fans, we also have the three-day Downtown Hoedown in the summer!

Detroiters experiences four full seasons, so activities are in a state of constant variety. For the summertime: Hidden gem Belle Isle is a massive island park on the Detroit river--bigger than Central Park in New York City--and includes miles of bike paths, an aquarium, a conservatory, and views of the city skyline. The Dequindre Cut lets visitors walk, skate on a semi-underground path overflowing with lush greenery and graffiti art. The growing Joe Louis Greenway will include 29 miles of biking paths. Here, residents frequently go rollerblading, biking, hiking, play beach volleyball, paddle boating, or simply enjoy the warm weather. On the west side of the state of Michigan are crystal blue waters, world-famous Cherry Festival, cabin rentals, and sand dunes. Fall is the season of red leaves, fresh-baked donuts and hot apple cider. . .a Michigan tradition! In the fall, Michiganders flock to their many apple orchards and cider mills to celebrate the crisp weather. Fall is also football season--Michigan's teams, whether NCAA or NFL. During the winter months, Campus Martius in downtown Detroit has ice skating, hot chocolate, and several restaurant options. Festivals including Noel Night and Winter Blast bring hundreds of visitors to the city during this time.

Tour Detroit

"The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young."

When Henry Ford uttered the above words, he must have been thinking about Detroit. With a myriad of cultural institutions, the city offers many opportunities to learn and indeed keep one's mind young. The beautiful Detroit Institute of Arts features a world-class collection of art and is the second largest municipally-owned museum in the United States. The nearby Charles H. Wright Museum provides an in-depth look at African American history. Hitsville, U.S.A. highlights the city's rich musical history, and the Rouge River Factory reflects the city's commitment to the auto industry over the years. Detroit is a city of transformation, which is tangible as one views the unique art of the Heidelberg Project. The Detroit Train Station offers a glimpse into the past and is often the subject of local photography. Detroit fosters a sense of innovation and entrepreneurship, as seen with many local businesses including Art House, Detroit Motor City Apparel, and Tech Town.
